BEST ITALIAN I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!The Delux Combo Pizza had a rich blend of the toppings and the Lasagna simply melted in my mouth! Makes you want to come back to SF just for this place alone. Only flaw is the wait. Tables are limited. We arrived at 5pm on Sat. and since the place had just filled up we had to wait for 40 minutes. The entrance is small so basically it is filled with people standing around.
Great place recommended by a friend. The host was friendly and accommodating when I walked in without a reservation. The food I had was amazing and everything around us looked just as good! I don't get to SF too often but I'll look forward to coming back here the next time I do.
San Francisco is well known for its outstanding Italian food, and this is one of those little gems that proves the point. Very unassuming outside, and not very large inside, it has great local ambiance, and everyone always seems to be having a good time when they're eating here. The prices are fair, and the food is outstanding... The calzone we had during our last visit here almost made me want to cry. Bottom line, if you want outstanding Italian food but want to save the airfare, come here!
Best Lasagna I've ever had!
This place is AMAZING! Delicious food wonderful service. Can't wait to come back! Try the clams!
Amazingly fast service - pizza is fantastic!!!! So is their pastas. Meatballs are one of my personal favorite. Thank you for all the hard work during such crazy times. This restaurant really made my day few times now.
Ever have one of those meals that makes you thankful for being alive to enjoy it? Tommasso' s is absolute perfection. The BEST calzone, Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and chili flakes. Tiramisu, creme brulee and more. The ricotta they use is sweet and creamy, the crust is delicious. Service is quick but not rushed. Molto bene!
Took my 81 year old mom to this classic North Beach Italian place (sadly, many are gone due to tech bro gentrification). We both enjoyed it immensely. Was expecting nostalgic gut luggage but was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding quality of the food at reasonable prices. From an amazing house wine made for them by an old (pre-bro) Sonoma County winery to the best broccoli I’ve had in my life (cold, marinated in lemon and garlic), to rich but balanced homemade manicotti and ravioli, the kitchen far exceeded our expectations. Felt like we were back in Italy at a neighborhood favorite unknown to tourists. And we didn’t even try their signature thin crust. Charming murals and private booths. So sad that places like Tosca’s and the Gold Spike are gone, but Tomasso’s is holding out against the Huns.
Our family has been coming here for four generations. Since it was Lupo's. Always such friendly and prompt service, and food that tastes like home.
They have a long family style table which is great for big groups. Calzones are great
The desert was so good. First one in the menu. Eggplant and muzzarella was excellent.
We discovered the place by chance one night and fell in love with it. The atmosphere is like stepping back in time. I’m not a veal eater generally but the only time I make an exception if for their veal rolletini. It is absolutely delicious. The staff is very welcoming. My husband proposed to me at Tommaso’s and it will forever be “our†restaurant.
Great family owned business with excellent food!! Love the ravioli and sausage.
Best Italian I've had. So gooooooood!
Nice restaurant, Very good pizza in an historical place. Lovely.
What an amazing time we had here food was excellent and service was excellent
Classic SF establishment. Great food and service. Feels the way SF once was...
Tastes just like the pizza in Italy. The service is so great and the staff is extremely kind, feels like family. Very comfortable inside and the aesthetic is very charming. Definitely coming back often. Would recommend to all.
It's a little hard to find, but worth the look. Its an authentic Italian restaurant. It has the atmosphere and excellent food.
I go with my wife to this great restaurant often! This is my favorite restaurant to to have a good dinner. I visit this spot at least once a month. The meals are just great, the staff is professional and the price is reasonable. I like meeting in this spot to have a tasty lunch.
You always feel like more than family...Carmen is always good for a hug!!
Love this place! Oldest pizzeria in all of SF and has the best flavor still! I order from them once a week or eat there. Their pastas are amazing too! Lasagna is to die for!! Can’t be the old world charm and the best service as well. You won’t be disappointed. Been coming here the entire time I’ve lived in SF, over a decade. Tried so many others and they don’t compare!
The freshest most amazing food ever .....it brought a tear to my eye it was so good!
Super cozy. I loved it, the food was amazing, the staff was great. It’s a genuine, authentic old fashioned Italian restaurant. The chicken parm was one of the best ones I’ve ever had and the pizza was beyond delicious.
I had the walnut bread, margherita burrata, and saffron with osso buco risotto. What stood out the most was the walnut bread. This was delicious! I loved the food but the service was a bit slow.
That burrata pizza though. Usually places just put little hill globs of burrata but not here. Burrata was the blanket, the star, of this pizza. One of the BEST pizzas I've ever had and believe me, I've had A LOT of pizzas. From Chicago, to California, to New York, to CAMBODIA :)
I've been dining at Tommsso's for 43 years. Never once has it disappointed. The food is superb and the service exquisite. Never miss it
Tasty food. Expensive by my standards (I'm from Portland, or). 4/10 service. reasonable atmosphere.
Service was quick (could be friendlier) but the great food made up for that. Nice atmosphere. Must have: COO COO CLAMS!
Great food and atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and excellent at their jobs. Highly recommend Tommaso's *****
Nothing but amazing meals here! We always come here when in town and always walk away impressed. Our waiter was great and gave some awesome recommendations and we always order the Calazone. Go here!
Love their Caesar salad. Excellent pasta dishes. I don't do pizzas, but my friends have always enjoyed theirs here
Tommaso's Ristorante Italiano is one of my favorite places to go for brunch and dinner. Always get the meatballs and a simple margarita pizza. The gnocchi is also fantastic, as are the cocktails.
Food was perfect and so was the service. My absolute favorite restaurant!
Great place for a traditional pizza. Tried the fresh spinach/parmesan and sausage/mushroom pizzas and both were excellent. I liked the spinach and parmesan better, though.
Fresh pasta, shrimps were VERY TASTY!Great service.Nice and cozy place.I very much reccomend
Nice little place with atmosphere. Food and wine was average but it's fun.
The pizza is great. The service is fast and courteous. The calimari, lasagna & Caesar salad, those could be better seasoned, but that may just be my pallet. It's a small place, and kinda loud. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.
Amazing hidden gem. Always busy. Always great food. Very fast service.
Small place with a cute, cozy atmosphere. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait for a table for two! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the lasagna and cheese ravioli with pesto. The lasagna was okay, but the pasta was just way too soft for my liking, it had about the same texture as the cheese. On the bright side, the meat sauce, ravioli and pesto were all super tasty.
Best Pizza ever! We love Augustino and Carmen and Peter.Linda and Bob Nellessen
We ordered calamari as an appetizer. Texture was good, but the flavor was extra oily. My wife ordered a half margarita and half cheese/mushroom pizza. We feel the pizza was a little under done and soggy, and could have used another minute or so in the oven. It also was light on the sauce in our opinion. I ordered the fish of the day, which was a broiled piece of salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned with salt, pepper, and chunks of garlic. For a $28 entree though, I would have thought more would be on the plate other than the piece of fish and 3 florets of broccoli.
Great authentic family owned italien gem in North Beach. Excellent pizza in wood fired oven. The real deal no pretense just good people serving excellent food.
Food was good. Wife thought lasagna was lacking. Good atmosphere and good service
Not cheap, but the pizza is phenomenal. By North Beach standards, it's not really expensive either. The place was packed, but we were allowed to order our pizza while we waited, and it arrived as soon as we were seated. We felt like mafioso rock stars. The pizza was so good, we ordered a second one that was even better. They also have good cold beer. I didn't drink wine that night, but they definitely have a variety to choose from. Highly recommended.
Italian food, yeah, very tasty. The staff was very sociable and kind. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
I attended a milestone birthday party at Tommaso's.The service was excellent. The meatsauce with the lasagna was the best I've ever had..ever.I highly recommend Tomaso's for the outstanding service and food. You will never have better garlic bread...GO!
The raviolis and the meatballs were outstanding they also have wonderful Pizza
I first ate here when I was in the Navy stationed on Treasure Island in the late 70's and I had many delicious meals there over the years. Fast forward and now I eat there once a year when I'm up for the San Jose Jazz festival. I have a yearly tradition. After a day of doing business, I head to North Beach and have a cappuccino at one of the little cafes on Columbus and people watch. Then a stop at Molinari's for some of their salami to take home. Finish off with a sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza and a couple of glasses of wine at Tommaso's for the perfect evening. The service is always excellent, as is the pizza. It's something I look forward to every August
